This qualification reflects the roles of flight crew personnel performing normal and emergency commercial pilot duties in support of commercial or Defence aviation flight operations. Flight crew duties include applying technical and non-technical aviation skills and knowledge to a wide range of air transport operations, including passenger, charter and cargo operations. Individuals working at this level will apply knowledge and skills to demonstrate autonomy, judgement and defined responsibility in known or changing contexts and within broad but established parameters. This qualification forms some of the requirements for certification as a commercial pilot by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) as directed by Civil Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 61 Flight crew licensing. People seeking certification should check these requirements with CASA.
Commercial aeroplane pilot
To ensure the quality training outcomes, all candidates need to demonstrate sufficient academic capability to undertake advanced diploma level studies. These requirements are as following:
Completion of Year 12 or demonstrated of relevant industry experience
Successful completion of Pal Education’s LLN test
Students must be aged 18 or older
Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical as per Civil Aviation Safety Regulation Part 61.415 (1) (a).
A Valid Aviation Reference Number (ARN)
A Valid ASIC (requires a police check) for entry to a controlled airport
Completion of Year 12 or demonstrated of relevant industry experience
Completion of higher secondary school or A levels qualification oversea

Pal Education has a recognition of prior learning (RPL) process in place for students who wish to have their prior skills, knowledge, experience and education formally recognised. All students enrolling in the course are entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) or credit transfer.
RPL allows the student to be recognised for their skills and knowledge gained from previous study or work experience without repeating the training.
Credit Transfer provides the student with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. Students will be exempted from the relevant unit of competency who are awarded credit Transfer. Students must submit a verified Certificate or Statement of Attainment issues by RTO for formal recognition.
After successful completion of AVI50222, students may continue their AVI60219 advanced diploma in aviation (Pilot in Command). For detailed course information, please contact with qualified RTO for more detailed information.
